Real Connections. Sometimes the best photographs are the ones that aren’t planned and aren’t posed. The best photographs leave the viewer with a connection to the subject, the story, and the scene. You can ‘help’ this along a bit by a little staging. Set up your child in a clutter free area with some of his favorite toys. Play a little bit and interact with him, leave the camera behind you for a while. Once he’s engrossed in his play, slowly take out your camera and snap some pictures. Take some from different angles, from top looking down, from down looking up, etc…be ready for when he looks up and snap quickly. This is a great idea if you want some memories for your child of his or her favorite toys (that train set he got for Christmas, or the doll house she got from grandma).
