Letter to My Son – October 2013

Dear Son,

You keep telling me you want to be a “monster” for Halloween and I’m a bit concerned you will be vastly disappointed when you put on your “puppy doctor” costume.  I really thought you would be over the moon with it, since you have loved holding and helping to care for our litter of puppies.  I’m holding out till the very end though and we’ll see how much of a struggle it will be to coax you into some scrubs with puppy pictures on them.  I may be making a list minute trip to Target to find a toddler sized monster costume!

This month you also got to ride a pony for the first time.  We visited a friend’s farm and you enjoyed chasing the chickens and cats and petting the horses.  With all that room to roam, I think it would be your dream to live on a farm!  I really enjoy watching you discover new things.  Your eyes just light up when you realize you have just experienced something brand new.

I’ll Love You Forever,

Letter to My Daughter – October 2013

Dear Daughter,

The fall color is beautiful, but fleeting.  This time of year we are picking out Halloween costumes, decorating for autumn and of course, visiting the “Patch” to pick out our annual pumpkin for carving!  We had the best intentions of going to the local one here, but as soon as we arrived, the wind picked up and it started raining.  We ran and grabbed the first pumpkin we saw and headed back home.  We had more success at the one by Grandma’s.

We also visited our friend’s farm one evening.  You have been begging to ride a horse and pet some chickens, and you got to do just that!  In the past you have been very hesitant to get up on a pony.  You want to so badly, but when it comes time, you get apprehensive and nervous.  But this time, you got right up on him and loved every minute!  You were so excited to wear your “horsey boots” too.  Such a fashionista.

Love you lots and lots and lots,

Baby {M} | Minot ND Newborn Photographer

Baby M was 7 days new when she came into the studio.  The room was warm and bright, even on that overcast autumn day.  Daddy and the other girls played outside in the back while we did M’s session inside.  It was nice weather considering fall time in Minot can be temperamental.  This family is going to be a busy one, as they also have a brand new puppy as well.  The girls were playing with her out back while we did the session.  I think Daddy is definitely outnumbered by females in this family 😉

Photo Walk | Minot, ND Photographer

I like having photographer friends:) It’s nice to be able to talk with someone about f-stops, bokeh and ‘good color’ without getting the deer- in- the- headlights look (that I sometimes get from my husband – LOL). On this day, my friend Tammy from TG Photography in Minot and Gordon from Flash Gordon ND Photography in Minot, decided to head out and find some nice fall color.  We did a bit of location scouting at the same time and we may or may not have talked about f-stops, bokeh and ‘good color’  😀

Some of my favorites from that nice fall day:

Kids Were Here | October 2013

Ah, toys.  The beauty of having a toddler is the constant sound of toy baskets being flipped over and all the contents spilling to the floor.  One bonus is, this sound means that a toddler is busy entertaining themselves:)
