Project 52 – Week Five – ‘Childhood Memory’

One of my favorite childhood memories is playing dress up.  I think it’s a right of passage for almost every little girl to want to pretend to be a princess.

This week’s theme was childhood memory, so I snapped this picture of my DD and her friend as they were dressing up during their play-date this weekend.

Maternity Session with the ‘F’ family

I met this cute family last year in my DD’s gymnastics class.  This will be their second baby and we took a cute photo for the name name reveal!  In just a couple weeks we will be doing her newborn photos!

Project 52 – Week Four – ‘Winter’

This week’s theme was winter.  Not a stretch for this part of the country!  The snowy scenery can be beautiful, and provide plenty of photographic opportunities.  :)

Letters to Our Daughters – January

Dear Daughter,

In my first letter to my daughter I want to tell the story of YOU.

When we found out we were having a baby we were so excited.  We were nervous, as first time parents often are, but we couldn’t wait to meet you.  When I felt you kick for the first time, it was amazing to think you were a little person growing inside me.  And for that little while, you would be all mine:) So I talked to you, I sang to you, I played you Mozart 😉

You were with me while I worked, slept, ate dinner and slept.  For that nine months you and I were ONE.

When we found out you were a GIRL, we were so excited.  Your daddy knew right then he would spend the rest of his life protecting you from all evil (AKA boys that came knocking at our door):) Mommy spent some time shopping for strollers, car seats, crib, bottles and all kinds of PINK.  In December, daddy, Grandpa Dennis and Papa helped put together your crib and we painted and decorated your room in chocolate brown, cream and pink.

Then, in the middle of the night at the end of January, you heralded your arrival.  We gathered up our bag, made the phone calls to grandparents and headed to the hospital.  You were pretty stubborn from the get-go 😉  You were going to come out into the world on your own terms.  You made your appearance late afternoon the next day.  You were so small and delicate.

You got to spend time with all the grandparents as they came out to visit and help one by one.

You started crawling pretty early on, then walking and finally talking by about 9 months.  Nothing was going to stop you now!  You loved creating and building and knowing how things worked.  Taking blocks apart and putting them back together.  You knew how to run an iPad before you were 2!  You still love to learn and I look forward to seeing the strong person you will become:)

“Promise me you will always remember: you’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think”.

Letters to Our Sons – January

Dear Son,

You are a lot like your mommy.  I think from the moment I found out about you, I knew you were going to be my little bud.

I had a feeling you were a boy from the beginning.  You loved hanging out with mommy so much you didn’t want to come out!  When the Doctor said you may need a little bit of encouragement, she scheduled your arrival on your sister’s 2nd birthday.  You knew she wasn’t going to want to share her day, so you decided to arrive a little earlier.  You looked just like your sister did when she was born, only the boy version with a sharper nose:) You fit right in to our little family right away.  Your sister adored taking care of you and you looked up at her with stars in your eyes.

As you approach your 2nd birthday it is becoming clear you will be a little firecracker, just like your mommy!  You are fiercely independent, but yet struggle with wanting me to stay close by.  More and more you enjoy playing with your sister. She loves being around you and sharing her time with you.  I can see you will be close as you get older.  My hope for you is that you both take care of each other for a long time.

“I’ll love you forever,

I’ll like you for always,

as long as I’m living,

my baby you’ll be”
