Letter to My Daughter – August 2013

Dear Daughter,

The summers are short here in ND.  And this year was no exception.  We had a long winter – it didn’t really end until mid May.  August was cooler than usual, so it felt like fall was arriving early.  It still didn’t hold us back from enjoying everything we love to do.

We camped almost every weekend.  A little bit to the south, a little bit to the north and then a little bit more to the north:)

You visited with your cousins and went to the summer fair.  You really like the rides at the fair. Especially the high, fast ones!  This year we bought you the ‘unlimited rides’ bracelet and you definitely made that purchase worth every penny.

You are enjoying meeting new friends with every new adventure. The other children we meet when camping love to play with you and are drawn to your excitement and energy.

We went to Clear Lake for a week and your favorite activity was swimming in the pool.  You were probably in the pool for 3-4 hours each day!  There was also a little playground right beside the cabin and you spent they other half of the day there:) In the evenings, after dinner, we would walk to either McTavish’s or Boardwalk to get ice cream.  And then you and your brother would be up half the night with a sugar-high.

We got lucky and were there the day of the Park’s 80th birthday, which meant a fun “Boo in the Park” trick or treating day and an outdoor concert at night.  It was our last night there and our last night camping for the summer. A fitting end to a wonderful season.

I am excited to be a part of “letters to our children” blog circle with other photographers and moms. We write monthly letters in honor of our children and hope you enjoy reading them with us. Please head over to my friend,  Jenn’s blog for her monthly letter to her son.
